Timely Oil Changes Are A Must
Changing engine oil as recommended becomes critical as oil loses its viscosity when used for too many miles or when it becomes too old. Reduced viscosity creates problems for an engine and can eventually cause wear. Dirty, old oil can create performance problems, which aren't helpful either. You'll know when the oil is dirty. Age or excess use turns oil's color from light green to dark black. Don't let it get to that point, though.
How often should you change the engine oil? At one time, every 3,000 miles was the recommended time. Today, 5,000 is suggested. Some engines may require oil changes at 7,000 or more. Please check your Mazda's owner's manual for the suggested mileage change point.
Even without use, oil becomes aged, weak, and dirty over time. After six months, it is best to change the oil in your Mazda. You don't want sludge building up.
